The teacher interacts with students of different ages, skills, and learning difficulties. Pedagogical instruction assesses the level of students about certain skills. To understand the pedagogy of students, differentiated instruction and supervision must be used.

What Does A Teacher Do?

• Lead and advise students on adjustment problems, academic problems or special academic interests.

• Meet with others to plan lessons to promote learning according to approved curricula. Maintain records of students as required by laws, district guidelines, and administrative regulations.

• Organize activities for a balanced program of teaching, demonstration, and work hours. This allows students to observe, ask questions, and do research.

• Teach students individually and in groups using different teaching methods.

• Prepare students for later grades. Encourage them to explore learning opportunities and tackle challenging tasks.

• Provide resources that children can use to engage in learning and imaginative play.

• Prepare for the assigned lessons. Upon request from the direct supervisors, provide written proof of preparation.

• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops. These enhance professional skills.

• Work with others to develop, check, and revise primary school programs. Organize class projects, field trips, guest speaker visits, or other experience-based activities. Introduce students to learning from these activities.

• Organize and lead activities to promote development.

• Supervise students in the use and care of equipment and materials to avoid injury and damage.

• Prepare goals and outlines for courses that meet curriculum guidelines.

• Teach through lectures, discussions and demonstrations. Establish and enforce rules of conduct and procedures to maintain order among students.

• Conduct standardized ability and performance tests. Interpret the results to determine student strengths and needs.

• Do administrative tasks such as

  • supporting school libraries
  • monitoring halls and cafeterias
  • loading and unloading buses

• Provide disabled students with tools, assistive technologies and help to access facilities.

How To Become A Teacher?

Eligibility (All Streams)

• Being a teacher requires you to have penultimate expertise over the discipline that you aim to teach. So, you should ideally be well-read about the subject you want to teach. The eligibility is to at least have a bachelor’s degree.

• School/ College/ Higher Education The college/higher education lectureship is obtained by passing the UGC NET, an examination conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

• To teach in schools, you will need to complete a BEd degree from a recognised institution
