What is B.Sc Nautical Science?

B.Sc Nautical Science is a 3-year undergraduate degree programme that qualifies you to join a merchant ship as a Deck Cadet and eventually become a Captain. It is one of three main routes into the Deck department of Merchant Navy, alongside DNS and B.Sc (Bridge Watchkeeping).

• Class 12 with PCM — minimum 60% aggregate
• English 50%+ at Class 10 or 12
• Age 17 to 25 years
• 6/6 unaided vision in both eyes (no glasses)
• No colour blindness
• Medically fit per DGS standards

B.Sc vs DNS — Which to Choose?

B.Sc gives you a degree certificate and more company options (sponsorship not mandatory). DNS gets you to sea faster (1 year vs 3 years) with a guaranteed job.
